CAPA’s Supervision Training Program explores the purpose and practice of clinical supervision in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Through weekly readings and discussion, students examine the supervisor-supervisee relationship, common challenges in supervision, ethical and clinical boundaries, and the experience of both giving and receiving supervision. At the end of the one-year course, trainees will be prepared to provide high-quality, deeply attuned supervision and teaching of psychodynamic psychotherapy in China.
Supervision Training students must be graduates of both CAPA’s Basic and Advanced Programs, which together provide four years of systematic instruction and individual supervision. Supervision Training students also have a rich background of psychodynamic psychotherapy experience, and many students are already engaged in providing private supervision. Additionally, enrolled Supervision Training students have the option of providing Basic Training CAPA students with supplemental supervision, which supports the professional growth of both supervisor and supervisee. Each class is limited in size to five students, which provides a deep and immersive learning experience.
